The project
The historic BaKoLa site has been transformed into a contemporary inner-city ensemble – a prime example of successful urban development and metropolitan transformation. Today, the Quartier Unterlinden comprises approximately 22,000 m² of office, retail and gastronomy space. State-of-the-art geothermal technology is used for energy supply: deep geothermal probes generate both heating and cooling efficiently and sustainably – contributing to responsible building operations in the heart of the city. The standalone eight-storey office building and the six-storey office and retail building, acquired by Sparkasse Freiburg, shape the character of the quarter and give the historic city center a renewed identity.
